18.01.25 Punjab United v Sutton Athletic

18 January 2025, Steve Cook Stadium, Gravesend.

It was a bitterly cold day for Punjab United’s first home game of 2025 at the Steve Cook Stadium.

Punjab starts the year in fifth place in the Southern Counties League Premier Division, 18 points behind table leaders Faversham Town. Visitors Sutton Athletic are currently in 12th place.

The first half was well-balanced when Will Johnson-Cole put Punjab into the lead with a goal in the 37th minute. Punjab held on to go into half-time with a 1-0 lead.

The second half was closely fought with both teams having an equal time on the ball. Sadly, Punjab conceded a penalty in the 74th minute, which was neatly put away for Sutton by Arlie Desanges.

The game finished 1-1, which was a fair result.

Punjab United's next game is away against Larkfield & New Hythe on Tuesday 21 January. The next match at the Steve Cook Stadium will be against Snodland Town on 25 January.
