I also produce The Gravesend Journal, which publishes documentary stories from Gravesend and the wider Gravesham community, and now has its own site. My health has forced me to pause for a while, but I’m aiming to restart documenting stories in early 2027.
I’m self-studying the history of European conflict photography and its representation in the media. I don’t have an end in mind; I study because I’m interested and I enjoy the process.
None of the posts here is necessarily finished. Think of them more as my thoughts at the time. I aim to revisit and update them often.
I’ve recently been struggling with Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome. Having stopped taking Amitriptyline in July 2025, I found it difficult to find personal accounts of others going through the same. I hope my experience helps someone. If you’re interested, you can read more here.
The Railway Tavern in Railway Place, Gravesend, originally opened in 1853 (some sources suggest 1881) and followed shortly after the railway station in 1849.
The Ascot Arms is the latest of Gravesend’s pubs to close, finally shutting its doors early in 2018. The brewery has advertised for new tenants, but it seems more likely it’ll be turned into yet…
